About Chugach State Park
This massively huge state park is located in Southcentral Alaska and it actually the fourth largest state park in the United States consisting of almost 500,000 acres. It is bordered by the Alaska Mountain range in the North and the Chugach and Wrangell Mountain range in the east.
This region is home to an extensive amount of ocean shoreline and also boasts many very big glaciers and ice fields. This park is accessible from the state capitol of Anchorage and is a widely sought after park for it’s beautiful coastline and glaciers, ice caves and recreational and exploratory opportunities.
This is a must see for anyone visiting the state of Alaska and honestly you could spend your whole trip in Alaska just exploring this one park!
Activities and Difficulty Range
This park is the hiker and kayakers paradise. Its extensive shorelines makes it a wonderful place to take long canoe or kayak trips and integrate them with camping and hiking. The park is so big that you could spend months exploring by foot or kayak and still not really fully see the entire park. Difficulty ranges can be beginner friendly yet challenge even the most seasoned hiker and kayaker depending on which part of the park you are visiting and what kind of activities you are trying to do.
